There are objects to which one sometimes attributes a function that they do not have at first sight, like the back of a chair for example on which we put down our jacket.
Pencils is inspired by this type of functional displacement, a priori there is no relationship between a pencil pot and a coat rack but if you look closer ---In addition to responding differently to a function, it creates an emotional connection with the object by what it evokes.
Pencils was first imagined as an independent object intended to be added to an existing piece of furniture, in a second step, I drew a small shelf without a direct link to the pencil pot, keeping this same idea of meeting between independent elements, I think indeed that this confrontation provokes a new relationship, between objects. Starting from this confrontation, I highlighted this new created link, taking advantage of the object's superposition to give an illusion of movement, as if the shelf was generating the pencil pot.
Practically, the shelf allows of course to put keys, phone etc---. Several sizes and finishes are possible.

After Pencils, which is more an "individual" coat rack, I drew Pencil Row, a coat rack that can be declined in several different lengths (from 7cm to 6m ---) or again in individual version but allowing many combinations.
Pencil row introduces a notion of "organized disorder" into a typology where systematic repetition is often the only solution. Pencil row is made of lacquered aluminum and ash.
Its flexibility makes it of course usable in a residential or professional environment.
